On 28 November 2007, Ryerson University hosted a public debate on whether Israel should be targeted for an academic boycott. The event was moderated by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's (CBC) Suhanna Meharchand and counted the participation of four professors - Alan Sears and Salim Wally supporting the boycott, and John Caruana and Stuart Murray opposing it.
